See what's coming,
weeks before it lands.
Revenue tells you the story of last year. A rolling cash forecast tells you whether payroll clears next month. This is the layer that turns your numbers from a rearview mirror into a windshield.
Revenue's fine.
Cash still feels tight.
Most small businesses can tell you last month's revenue. Almost none can tell you what their cash balance looks like eight weeks from now. That gap is where the stress lives — payroll, taxes, and slow months arrive as surprises instead of things you saw coming.
If a few of these sound familiar, a forecast changes that.
- ✓ Cash feels tight even in months revenue looks fine
- ✓ You've been caught off guard by a tax bill or slow month before
- ✓ You don't have a written budget for this year
- ✓ Big purchases or hires get decided on gut feeling
- ✓ You've never modeled what happens if a client or contract leaves
- ✓ You want a plan you update monthly — not a PDF from January
What forecasting actually looks like
Concrete models, updated on a schedule — not a one-time spreadsheet you outgrow in a month.
Cash flow forecasting
A rolling 13-week cash forecast, updated as reality changes. You see shortfalls weeks ahead — with time to do something about them.
Budgeting & forecasting
An annual operating budget and a 12-month forward forecast, translating your goals into a real plan with numbers attached.
Budget vs. actuals review
A monthly look at plan versus reality, so the budget stays a living tool instead of a January exercise.
Scenario modeling
What happens if you hire, lose a client, or take on debt — modeled before you decide, not after.
Seasonality planning
If your business has slow months, we plan cash around them instead of getting surprised by them every year.
Lender & investor readiness
Projections and a summary package ready before a bank or investor asks — not scrambled together the night before.
From guessing to knowing
A clear path from first call to a forecast you actually trust.
Baseline call
Your current cash position, upcoming known expenses, and what's been keeping you guessing.
Build the model
Your first 13-week cash forecast and annual budget, built around how your business actually runs.
Monthly updates
The forecast rolls forward as actuals come in — always looking 13 weeks ahead, never stale.
Decision support
Test a hire, a loan, or a slow month before it happens, with a model that's already built.

About forecasting with SmartScale
What's the difference between a budget and a forecast? +
A budget is the plan you set once a year — what you intend to spend and earn. A forecast is the living, updated view of what's actually likely to happen, revised as new information comes in. You want both, and they should talk to each other.
How far out can you actually predict cash? +
Thirteen weeks is the sweet spot — far enough to see a shortfall coming with time to act, close enough that the numbers stay realistic. We also build 12-month forecasts for bigger-picture planning.
Do I need clean books first? +
It helps, but it's not a requirement. If your books need work, we can start there and layer forecasting on top once the foundation is solid.
Can I get this as a one-time project instead of a subscription? +
Yes — the Cash Flow Projection and Annual Budget Build are both one-time engagements. Many clients start there and move to the ongoing Clarity tier once they see the value.
What if my business is seasonal? +
That's exactly what seasonality planning is for — we build the slow months into the forecast so they're expected, not a surprise every single year.
